Premises

We are conveniently situated in the centre of the island. Contrary to many other laboratories, our premises were constructed with a laboratory in mind, we don't operate from a converted garage or warehouse.

Ambient conditions are not only required during testing times but also for sample conditioning. For this reason, we have separate, air-conditioned laboratories and cordoned-off areas to create miniature independent ambient controlled environments. A few examples of this are in cement testing, where the smallest change in temperature will invalidate the test. Also, cement prism samples require not only temperature but also humidity control, which we are equipped to handle. The same is true of density and other temperature-sensitive tests. Cube tank temperatures need to be constantly monitored, for which we have cutting edge, automated monitoring technology.

Sample handling, storage and preparation is also important. As such we have a dedicated cube reception area in which concrete cubes are de-moulded in an area detached from the main laboratory. Heavy plant and drilling equipment are housed in a yard adjoining the laboratory for this purpose. Stores and offices also have dedicate locations, also directly accessible from the laboratory.

We would love to welcome you for a visit, just drop us a line.

Equipment

We take laboratory testing seriously. As proof of this is our inventory of equipment, which contains no less than 3,000 pieces, excluding consumables. Our computerised inventory database automatically prompts us to carry out maintenance or calibration on equipment as required by the relevant standards. Maintenance and calibrations are carried out before every use, weekly, monthly or yearly as required. Document procedures are followed and all findings documented. Calibrations are carried out either in-house by our own competent and trained personnel, or by third-party accredited bodies, as required. Should we be required to carry out a new test, we won't shy away from purchasing the right equipment for the job. What's more, we only procure quality, pre-approved equipment.
