Solidbase Laboratory has a proactive outlook towards internships. Every year we host both local and foreign interns for varying time periods. Our only prerequisite is that non-Maltese speaking students have a high intermediate level of English (CEFR B2), and a willingness to learn from our experience, accept direction, and to disseminate knowledge! Send us an email and let us know your background and when you are available and we will get in touch with you to organise an interview.
Solidbase Laboratory is an accredited testing house that carries out inspection of building and construction materials and their raw components. We employ over 60 personnel. Since many of our employees are not Maltese, the unofficial spoken language is English. Interns will benefit from exposure to this and will help them improve their grasp of the language. They will be exposed to quality processes and will be given the opportunity to provide input.
We understand that the purpose of an internship is to assist students to integrate in the working world and the day-to-day activities in the job environment. At Solidbase they will be given the opportunity to do just so. Not only do we provide the basis for this, but we listen to what interns have to say and will implement their suggestions if found to be conducive to improvement.
Depending on their age, maturity, and capabilities, interns will be given training and assignments in: laboratory processes; carrying out quality audits in various aspects of the business including two laboratories, offices, and site works; accompany a quality inspector on site; internal calibrations on laboratory equipment; carrying out laboratory tests; and related work.
Monitoring and mentoring is generally be provided by the quality office which is manned by 3 employees, as well as the Managing Director. Discussions / training / assignments will be carried out face-to-face.
Evaluations will be based on the intern’s performance, willingness to accept direction and his follow through, his general behaviour and interactions with staff, and his proactiveness.
